Sledding with Sojourn Small Group

We got over a foot of snow this weekend, which is a ton for Louisville. Church service was cancelled this morning so we went sledding with our Sojourn small group. Who needs sleds when you have hampers and storage bin lids!! It was a blast!

Smiles for Life in Nashville

Here are some pictures from a weekend in Nashville with the Crown Council, an organization for dental professionals to help raise money for charities across the world. It was a weekend of seminars, speakers, fancy dinners, awards, and even a personal concert with Garth Brooks at the Grand Ole Opry House. Every year across the US, there are several dental offices, including Mortenson Family Dental, that participate in an event called Smiles For Life. Basically, patients buy whitening in the offices and all of the proceeds go towards local charities, Kosairs Childrens Hospital and also towards Garth Brooks foundation called Teammates for Life. Last year over $24 million dollars was raised and went out over 55 countries to children that are in need. How awesome it is to be a part of this amazing event this year!!

Our First Christmas Married!!

This was our first Christmas together as a newly married couple! We even
got our first real Christmas tree this year, and it was very beautiful
if I must say so myself. This has been an amazing year filled with an abundance of blessings. Our beautiful wedding was in May, an incredible honeymoon in Jamaica, Aaron and I have both started new jobs this year, we became members at Sojourn Community Church, and many great memories with family and friends. Aaron was also recently diagnosed with MS, multiple sclerosis, a few weeks ago. Even though it was a definate surprise to both of us, we feel blessed that is is a very early diagnosis and there are many good treatments for MS. We are so grateful to have so many loved ones supporting us through love and prayers. We know God has many wonderful things in store for us and this is just another stepping stone in our faith and our testimony. It has been a phenomenal year and we are excited to see where He leads us in 2008. God bless!

Thanksgiving with the Family

The Twedt family is finally complete with us sisters and our husbands. We all get along so well and have a blast, as you can see, when we all get together. What a blessing!
It's amazing how much I have learned from my sisters through life situations, healthy relationships with their husbands, and the joys of Mommyhood. Thank you Jennifer & Angela for being strong testimonies to being Godly women. I love you guys and couldn't be more grateful to have sisters like you both!

Adventure at the Red River Gorge

Wow, how awesome is the Red River Gorge! We decided not to camp in a regular campsite and we found a totally secluded spot by a stream with an aweomse view of some cliffs. Its a little different camping primitive and there are lots of little things you just cant possibly think of when you decide to do it.

Nichole totally impressed everyone when she climbed outdoors for the first time and did just as good as all the guys that were climbing!!! Rock climbing is really a mental workout as much as a physical workout. Pushing aside all those fears and just GOING FOR IT! Nichole is bonified rock climber and her hubby couldnt be prouder!

Seeing Sean was great! Found out that one of his favorite climbing memories was when I played the harmonica (amazing grace) during a tough climb a couple of years ago. It was nice to see Sean as genuine and laid back as ever, he will always be an inspiration.

Our Sunset at the Palms Honeymoon Review

The Pictures Don’t Lie!: One of the major reasons we chose Sunset was because the candid photos on Trip Advisor looked so good. But we were still skeptical. The moment we pulled up we were blown away. It is better than the pictures. It felt like we were strolling through a beautiful private jungle everywhere we went. The openness of the restaraunts and the awesome woodwork everywhere was quite amazing.

Uncrowded, Low Traffic, and No Waiting For Anything: Apparently the resort was at capacity while we stayed there. We Totally couldn’t tell. I hope they don’t build much more onto the resort, I have heard that’s what happens when a resort in Jamaica gets a lot of business.

Engaging Respectful Staff: The staff was so great that we tipped anyway. With some of the staff specifically tipping was hardly enough… We gave them a place in our hearts. Our favorite was our new good friend Leroy. (He’s the young bartender who looks like Tiger Woods!) We were surprised that Natisha was new, she was always great at making us feel comfortable and taken care of. The manager Sharon was so very kind and helpful as well, she has a great attitude and a personality that probably sets the tone for a lot of the great staff at Sunset.

Truly Enchanting Rooms: 6 shower heads, Air Conditioning, perched in the top of a jungle garden, wildlife singing us to sleep every night, thorough maid service, awesome interior design, a comfy day bed on the patio with huge palm leaves hanging over us and a TV that we didn’t really watch and was nicely tucked away in a cabinet. We stayed in room 710 which was nice because it was tucked towards the back of the resort. But it really wouldn’t have mattered which ones we stayed in because of how uncrowded the whole place was.

Horseback Riding in the Ocean: Another couple at the resort told us to book a tour with an outfit called Country Western. It was soo much fun and amazing. We rode on the beach, ate fresh bananas, drank directly from fresh coconut and then rode out deep into the water. The tour guides were great! Be sure to tip them well! We have ridden horses in Kentucky and I always get nervous and don’t enjoy it because the tour horses just seem unhappy. Not at all soo in Jamaica, they are the happiest most relaxed horses! I thought the horse would swing its head around at any moment and say Ya Mon.

If it Rains… do the Zip Line Canopy Tours: We love adventure and the day we did the canopy tour it rained HARD. It made us zip down the lines twice as fast. Extremely Fun and actually very safe (I am a rock climber and they use good petzl equipment).

It was a quiet, secluded and AMAZING place for a Honeymoon. Usually a week after coming back from a trip I get tired of telling everyone about it, but as long as Sunset at the Palms stays the way it is, I will ALWAYS tell everyone how awesome our Honeymoon was!

New Addition to the Family

Dakota Alan...the new adorable addition to my family. My sister, Angela gave birth to her third beautiful child on Friday, April 6th. What a HUGE blessing from God! Dakota weighed 6 lbs. 13 ounces and measured 21 inches long. This little guy has the longest hands and feet for such a tiny baby. He's gonna be some type of star athlete after Ted!! It just amazes me just how intricate the details of this tiny little creature are :) God is so amazingly creative and His love is truly evident in pure and innocent little children. Aaron and I are both so grateful to be an Aunt & Uncle of six beautiful nieces and nephews!

New Journey Together

Our new journey together...as Aaron and I are preparing for marriage with only 53 days to go....we are both so anxious & excited to start a new chapter in our lives...We took our photographer, Don Dornick to The Grand, so he could figure out lighting and good spots to take pictures. We found this awesome spot right down the street. It's right next to the river with lots of open green fields and cool railroad tracks. The picture to the right is a practice run of one of our pictures for the big day, but as I look at it, I see us as one. Aaron is the most amazing man I have ever met and feel so incredibly blessed to have him lead me down this straight, yet long & curvy pathway of life. I knew from the day that I met Aaron, that God had sent him to complete me here on this earth. I am forever grateful for his unconditional love, kindness, patience, honesty, and definately his fun-loving spirit. He is always making me laugh and ever reminding me that life is a journey of fun. He has also taught me what it is to pursue his passion and love for the Lord. I am so blessed to have this man as my husband-to-be and can not wait to be united as one together with God. We are starting our own little family together and hopefully through the years it won't be so little anymore :)

We Booked Our Honeymoon!! Negril, Jamaica

Looking for a great spot to honeymoon was really annoying at first... Every single website and brochure sounded the same.

Then I stumbled on this thing called Trip Advisor. WOW. It has hundreds of reviews from real people who actually stayed at these places and they give you all sorts of tips and advice on making the trip awesome. We booked 8 days with Sunset At The Palms in Negril, all of its 500 reviews had good things to say about it and especially that it was an awesome honeymoon spot. We are soooo excited to get married!

Wisdom Teeth Out

Aaron's surgery went well! He had his widom teeth removed yesterday by Dr. Gibson, the dentist that Nichole works for. The first couple of hours were kinda rough, drooling blood at the pharmacy and forgetting to bring his insurance card for the pain killers... Argh. He is feeling alot better today though. Still rebellious about putting ice on and taking it easy! Aaron's company does big audio visual conference productions so they let him borrow one of the industrial strength projectors while he recovers. Its pretty rare to go to a movie theatre with a bed.
